Website Services

I am currently offering web hosting, domain registration and basic web site creation/support.

By "basic web site" I mean the setup of a web site using HTML pages with limited script use. At this time, the service I offer does not include websites that utilize such things as backend databases, shopping cart functionality and coded webservices.

Or, purchase your own hosting space and start your own website using WebHostingPad

Here is what KennyHelpDesk Offers:

2 - Web Site Hosting using my service

Note
: Ballpark estimate to initiate and publish a website is approx. 10-15 hours labor.

Options Described:

1 – Web Site Hosting Offered By Your ISP:
Creation of Websites offered through your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

The Good:
- Websites are simple and easy to maintain. Usually, no understanding of HTML is needed.
- Free (but space is limited).
- FTP services are usually available (for uploading page updates).

The Bad:
- Limited functional capabilities.
- Limited amount of storage space (so if your site expands additional fees may apply).
- You are responsible for maintaining your site (can be time consuming)
- Your email address is your ISP domain (ex.  JoeSample@comcast.com)
- Your domain name is not easy to remember (ex. “www.mysite.verizon/4es6w/etc..”).

2 – Web Site Using a Web Hosting Service:
Creation of Websites offered through a web hosting site that you subscribe to.
There are “free” web hosting sites out there, but I do not work with any of them (they are usually loaded with pop ups and advertisements that you cannot remove).

The Good:
- Websites are a little more difficult to maintain, but fancier functionality can be implemented.
- A user friendly Domain name – easy to remember (ex. “
www.mysite.com”).
- Often give you 1000 MB (1 GB) or more of web space.
- Multi-email ID's (as many as you need)
- Email forwarding (set up "friendly" email ID's - "support@mysite.com")

The Bad:
- Cost of registering a domain name.  ($10 a year)
- Yearly/Monthly fee for hosting service subscription.  (I charge $50/Year - cheap!)
- A little more complicated to use for maintaining your web site (for the novice).

What's Involved

A "Ballpark" estimate for me to initiate and publish a "basic" website (like this one) is approx. 10 hours labor (approx $400).

Or, better yet, try it yourself! - many WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) tools exist that can get you started in building your own site, but, in the long run you are better off getting to know the markup languages (e.g., HTML).

WebSite templates exist on the internet - from sites like Iron Spider which provide simple to use templates - Free ! (another great way to get yourself started).

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used to describe the presentation (that is, the look and formatting) of a document written in a markup language (HTML, XHTML, etc...). You will need to understand CSS as well.

Knowledge - yes, you will need some of this as well. W3Schools is a great site for Web Building tutorials, examples, reference and even certifications !
